The Department of Financial Studies the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled (The Impact of Insurance Portfolio Loss Ratios on Corporate Profitability -Applied Research) for the student Mina Walid Abed to obtain a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree in insurance and grants its holder All rights and privileges of a master’s degree.
This study aimed to measure the impact of loss ratios for insurance portfolios (such as life insurance, supplementary auto insurance, fire insurance, marine cargo insurance, engineering insurance, and general accident insurance) on the profitability of the National Insurance Company and the Iraqi General Insurance Company in Iraq during the period 2013–2023. The goal was to determine the extent to which loss ratios of insurance portfolios affect the performance of insurance companies.
The study found a significant inverse relationship between total loss ratios and profitability at both companies. A descriptive-analytical approach was adopted, utilizing financial instruments and profitability indicators to study and analyze the annual reports and statistics of the companies under investigation using SPSS software. This analysis was used to interpret the results.
