The study aimed to evaluate the performance of the investment portfolio of insurance companies in terms of the trade-off between return and risk. For the purpose of achieving the research goal, data from the National Insurance Company and the Iraqi General Insurance Company were used, for their role in decent work and economic growth as they represent the government insurance market in Iraq as well as having diversified investment portfolios. For the period from (2010) to (2019).
The study concluded that the modified and revised Sharpe models give better results than the traditional Sharpe model, but the modified Sharpe ratio (ASR) remains the best because it takes into account the non-normal distribution of returns and uses statistical measures of skewness and kurtosis within its equation.
