Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Accounting Studies Department at the Institute held a workshop entitled (Building Sustainability Resources Costs According to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard) in the Institute Hall. The workshop was managed by Professor Dr. Thaer Sabri Mahmoud, a lecturer in the Accounting Studies Department at the Institute. The workshop was attended by Dr. Imad Jalil Mahdi from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Scientific Research Authority – Center for Environmental, Water and Renewable Energy Research. A number of lecturers and graduate students at the Institute participated in the workshop.
The workshop aimed to introduce the (LEED) system for leadership in energy and environmental design for buildings, define sustainable buildings, and demonstrate their ability to achieve both the goals of energy efficiency and reducing the negative impact of buildings by achieving external insulation of the building.
The workshop concluded that achieving site sustainability is achieved by taking into account external factors when designing buildings and rationalizing water consumption through applying the LEED system to reduce waste, and reducing waste under the system and according to high performance standards to reduce economic costs and work on exploiting, exploiting and recycling waste in a way that is not harmful to the environment. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability goals to achieve goal (6) in ensuring that everyone has access to water and
