The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled (Determining the Resource Costs of Buildings According to the International Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standards – Applied Research) for the student Dalal Khalid Jabbar to obtain Cost & Managerial Accounting certificate, which is the highest professional certificate in the field of specialization, and its holder enjoys all the rights and privileges of a( doctorate degree).
The study aimed to determine the costs of resources consumed by university buildings and evaluate them according to the requirements of the international Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) system with the aim of rehabilitating them according to its requirements to save operating and maintenance costs. To achieve this, Al-Hikma University College, one of the private university education institutions in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, was chosen as a research area.
The study concluded that there are practical solutions through adopting the proposed system to address waste in the consumption of resources for buildings in terms of energy, water, transportation, and recycled materials, in addition to waste management, which will improve the work of the construction sector in the Iraqi environment in general and university buildings in particular by adopting the LEED system
