Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Institute’s Continuing Education Unit, as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week activities, held a workshop entitled “Strategies for Rationalizing Water Consumption and Achieving Sustainable Development” in the Institute’s hall. The workshop was presented by the Head of the Financial Studies Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Wafaa Hussein Salman Al-Haidari, and Assistant Professor Dr. Khulood Hadi Aboud, a faculty member in the Financial Studies Department at the Institute. A number of faculty members and postgraduate students from the Institute participated in the workshop.
The workshop highlighted environmental, economic, and social considerations, including addressing the water scarcity crisis and climate change, promoting sound management of natural resources, supporting sustainable development efforts, empowering participants to develop scientific and smart solutions for water management, and enhancing cooperation among government entities. The workshop provided participants with comprehensive knowledge about the critical state of water resources locally, globally, and regionally, and the impact of irrational water consumption on Iraq’s water situation. It also presented practical, scientifically based methods and solutions for rationalizing water consumption and optimizing water use.
These activities fall under the environmental and sustainability goals of achieving Goal (6), which aims to ensure access to safe, inclusive, and equitable water and sanitation services for all.
