The Department of Financial Studies, the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad, discussed the research titled (The Role of Financial Innovation in Improving Banking Performance/Applied Research) for the student Gailan Khalil Ibrahim to obtain a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree in taxes and grants the holder all rights and privileges of a master’s degree.
The study aimed to measure the correlation and influence relationships between the independent variable (financial innovation) with its dimensions of (mobile banking, ATM banking, electronic point-of-sale, electronic financial transfers, and credit cards) and the dependent variable (banking performance) with its dimensions of profitability, liquidity, capital adequacy, and operational efficiency, in a number of Iraqi private commercial banks.
The study concluded with a set of results, the most important of which is the existence of a correlation and influence relationship between financial innovation and its dimensions and banking performance. Cluster analysis also showed varying degrees of convergence among the banks studied in terms of their levels of adopting financial innovation and their banking performance. These results confirm the importance of commercial banks adopting financial innovation practices to contribute to enhancing banking performance and achieving their strategic objectives.
