Mission

The department devotes efforts to provide the local community with the educational and professional services and expertise necessary to prepare and qualify a generation that is scientifically and professionally capable of advancing the financial situation of the country and in the areas of banking, taxation and insurance and making it keep pace with what is presented in regional and international countries, leading its various activities in light of a deep belief in the requirements of quality assurance and human values.

Objectives

Preparing academically and professionally qualified staff in the field of banking, taxation and insurance to meet the requirements of the labor market and to ensure positive and effective participation in the development and improvement of the country’s economy.
Students acquire the necessary financial knowledge to conduct scientific and applied research related to the needs and problems of society.
Enhancing students’ analytical understanding in the field of financial sciences to develop the financial sector to be a diversified and effective sector to support the development of the national economy.
Keeping abreast of recent developments in banking and financial sciences and in a way that develops students’ skills in knowledge and efficiency in performing their professional work in the future.
Providing students with financial skills and capabilities in the field of banking, taxation and insurance as an effective means to improve the quality of life for Iraqi citizens and institutions operating in Iraq.
Enhancing the scientific and research outputs and the various scientific activities of the faculty members.

Certificates awarded by majors

  • Banks major:
    Awarded Certificate: Higher Diploma in Banking (equivalent to a master’s degree)
  • Tax major:
    Certificate Awarded: Higher Diploma in Taxation (Master’s Equivalent)
  • Insurance major:
    Certificate Awarded: Higher Diploma in Insurance (Master’s Equivalent)

The certificate is equivalent to a master’s degree, and the graduate is granted a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree, and its bearer enjoys all the rights and privileges of a master’s degree from the date of the council’s convening. The study period is two to three years after the bachelor’s degree

Terms of submission and acceptance

Banking major:
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in majors (accounting, accounting and financial techniques, accounting and financial control, accounting and banking sciences) and holders of a higher diploma in accounting specializations, in addition to admission requirements for postgraduate studies.

Taxation major:
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in majors (accounting, accounting and financial techniques, accounting and financial control) and hold a higher diploma in accounting specializations, in addition to admission requirements for postgraduate studies.

Insurance major:
The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in majors (accounting, accounting and financial techniques, accounting and financial control) and hold a higher diploma in accounting specializations, in addition to admission requirements for postgraduate studies.

Certificate requirements

The student receives theoretical and practical study for three semesters for a period of two years. The semester includes (15) theoretical weeks and (13) weeks in which the student exercises practical training in the field of specialization and for the two stages, then the student presents applied research in the field of his specialization after completing the requirements of theoretical lessons and practical training, where the Preparing and discussing it in accordance with instructions issued by the Council.

The student undertakes to work after obtaining the certificate for a period of no less than (3) years in his specialization, or to pay the university an amount determined by the Institute Council and approved by the University Council in case he breaches this obligation.

The average of the applicant for a master’s study or its equivalent on the general admission channel for employees applying according to Instructions for Academic Leaves No. 165 of 2011, as well as for non-employees, should not be less than (65%).
