Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Mahmoud, a lecturer at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at our institute, participated in his research paper, “The Effectiveness of Traffic Strategies to Reduce Road Accidents,” at the Al-Zawraa Hall of the Rashid Hotel, Baghdad. Under the patronage of the Prime Minister and in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Interior, Undersecretaries of the Ministry, and Directors General, and in the presence of the Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, the General Traffic Directorate held an expanded conference entitled “Traffic and Road Safety – a Shared Responsibility.” The conference was attended by a number of governors, directors of relevant departments, prominent security, administrative, and academic figures, as well as representatives of civil society organizations and the media.

The research aims to enhance traffic awareness, reduce road accidents, and discuss ways to improve traffic and transportation infrastructure, as well as establish joint working mechanisms between government, security, and service agencies to ensure the safety of citizens and road users. The conference participants emphasized the importance of strictly enforcing laws and intensifying campaigns. Raising awareness and using modern technologies in traffic management, along with the need for coordination between governorates to develop road networks and ensure the safety of pedestrians and drivers.

At the conclusion of the conference, the General Traffic Directorate expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior for their continued support and significant efforts in developing traffic operations and achieving road safety across the country.
