Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Institute held a workshop entitled “The Importance of Iraqi University Education” in the Institute’s auditorium. The workshop was delivered by Professor Dr. Baidaa Sattar Lafta, a lecturer in the Department of Financial Studies; Professor Dr. Thaer Sabri Mahmoud, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting Studies; and Professor Dr. Mahmoud Khalil Khudair, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting Studies at the Institute. A number of faculty members and graduate students from the Institute participated in the workshop.

The workshop aimed to emphasize that university education is an essential means of preparing various specialized personnel in fields (medicine, engineering, education, law, agriculture, and technology) who will contribute to the development of the economy and society in general. Consequently, the outcomes of the educational process, represented by university graduates, will increase productivity, which will be reflected in driving innovation and reducing unemployment rates through their ability to create new job opportunities or develop existing projects.

The workshop concluded that accounting education in Iraq is not just a university major, but rather a strategic pillar that contributes to building a modern state and an organized and sustainable economy. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability objectives in achieving Goal (4) of ensuring that everyone has access to comprehensive and equitable education and enhancing opportunities.
