Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, chartered accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, a certified public accountant, the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies held a scientific seminar entitled “Challenges of Implementing International Accounting and Financial Reporting Standards in the Iraqi Environment.” The seminar took place in the Institute’s hall and was presented by Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Ibrahim, Head of the Accounting Studies Department. A number of staff members, faculty members, and postgraduate students from the Institute participated.

The seminar highlighted the integration of the updated unified accounting system into the undergraduate and postgraduate curricula and the establishment of an electronic accounting lab to conduct practical training courses for government employees on the updated electronic accounting system using real-world examples.

These activities fall under the environmental and sustainability goals of achieving Goal (11), which aims to ensure that cities and human settlements are inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
