Chartered accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Najlaa Sada Hassoun, Assistant Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, and lecturer Dr. Osama Hassan Abdul Ali, Head of the Student Affairs and Postgraduate Studies Division at the Institute, participated in a specialized workshop on the “Scientific Research Skills Development Program for Postgraduate Students (ASDPS).” The workshop was organized by the Postgraduate Studies Department at the University of Baghdad and presented by Dr. Yusra Abdul Sahib Saif Al-Din, Director of the Postgraduate Studies Department at the University of Baghdad. A number of faculty members from the department participated, along with postgraduate students from various disciplines.
The workshop aimed to develop the research skills of graduate students (ASDPS), enhance their research capabilities, and improve their skills in preparing, conducting, writing, and publishing scientific research according to established academic standards. This contributes to raising the quality of graduate studies outcomes and achieving academic excellence, as well as developing academic writing skills and publishing research in reputable journals (Scopus and Clarivate) and ensuring that theses and dissertations are written according to internationally recognized academic standards.
The workshop recommended training students on reference management software (such as Mendeley or EndNote) and plagiarism detection software to ensure academic integrity. It also encouraged students to choose research topics with international relevance that meet the requirements for publication in reputable journals.
This activity contributes to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, namely Goal 4, which calls for quality education.
