Under the patronage of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, chartered accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, the institute held an environmental event to mark Iraq’s National Tree Planting Day, which falls on March 12th each year. The event aimed to promote environmental awareness and increase green spaces on campus.
Faculty and staff members participated in the event by planting a number of trees and saplings in the institute’s gardens and corridors. This initiative aims to support environmental initiatives and contribute to improving the university environment and enhancing its aesthetic appeal.
This initiative aligns with the directives of the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to encourage academic institutions to participate in tree planting campaigns, given their important role in preserving the environment, reducing pollution, and increasing green spaces.
The Dean emphasized that these activities contribute to instilling a culture of volunteerism among students and strengthening their sense of responsibility towards the environment, in addition to supporting national efforts aimed at protecting the environment and improving the urban landscape.
