Under the patronage of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, Certified Public Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Continuing Education Unit held a training course entitled “The Importance of Strengthening Statistical Data Protection Systems in the Financial Sector (Insurance, Banks)” from June 21, 2026, to June 25, 2026. The course was presented by lecturer Dr. Lawahiz Khalil Ibrahim, a faculty member in the Department of Financial Studies; lecturer Balsam Hussein Raheef, Head of the Council Secretariat Unit; lecturer Noor Ali Salman, Head of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Unit; and lecturer assistant Uday Obaid Zaidan, Head of the Studies and Planning Division at the Institute.
This course was part of the Institute’s efforts to develop the skills and provide expertise to faculty and staff at our Institute and various departments of Baghdad University in the application of International Accounting Standards. The course covered several topics, including internal audit mechanisms for budget accounts and education fund accounts, the laws, regulations, and controls governing internal auditing, and the new and updated structure of the fund’s accounts. Discussions and communication were encouraged throughout the course, fostering ongoing and future cooperation between the audit departments and units in the university’s colleges and institutes.
At the end of the course, participants were tested, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Dean of the institute, presented them with certificates of appreciation. He emphasized the importance of organizing such courses across various sectors to strengthen statistical data protection systems.
