The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled(The Use of Material Flow Cost Accounting to Reduce Environmental Costs and Enhance Product Survival and Continuity-Applied Research) for the student Arwa fras Eada to obtain chartered accountant certificate, which is the highest professional certificate in the field of specialization, and its holder enjoys all the rights and privileges of a doctorate degree.
This study aimed to implement Material Flow Accounting (MFCA) at the General Company for Gas Filling and Services to reduce environmental costs and enhance product sustainability. This was achieved through analyzing operational and financial data for the years 2021-2022, tracking material and energy flow within this industrial activity, and attempting to reduce losses, minimize emissions and impurities, and improve the operational efficiency of vehicles running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) instead of gasoline.
The study concluded that integrating MCA into the company’s operations contributes to reducing environmental costs, improving the quality of accounting data, enhancing planning and control processes, lowering production costs, and promoting product sustainability for gas systems by supporting the transition to cleaner, more efficient fuels.
