The Women’s Empowerment Committee at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad, under the supervision of the Dean of the Institute, Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Mamouri, held a workshop entitled (Psychological and Educational Counseling and its Role in Human Development) in the Institute’s hall, which was delivered by the Chair of the Women’s Empowerment Committee, Assistant Professor. Dr. Kholoud Hadi Abboud, a lecturer in the Department of Financial Studies at the Institute, and Dr. Hossam Yassin Ali, a lecturer in the Center for Educational and Psychological Research at the University of Baghdad. The workshop was attended by a number of professors, associates, and students of the Institute.
The workshop included the definition of counselling, its theories and types, psychological and educational counseling curricula, the definition of human development, and an explanation of the similarities and differences between psychology and human development.
The workshop concluded that human development depends on modeling, while psychology urges the search for the social role in which a person can excel. Psychology aims to get rid of psychological suffering, while development aims to live in peace, and that all advanced knowledge sciences move towards specialization, except Its common subject is human behavior, and each field enriches and complements the other field to reach the greater goal, which is to correct the behavior of the individual and bring him to the highest levels of human perfection, each in his specialty.
