The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies  at the University of Baghdad, as part of its objectives of serving society and implementing sustainable development goals, held a scientific symposium entitled (In-depth Education “Accounting and Auditing”) It was delivered by the Dean of the Institute, Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor, Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Mamouri, in the Institute’s hall. The symposium was attended by the Assistant Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor, Dr. Wafa Hussein Salman, and a number of professors, associates, and students of the Institute.

Among its objectives, the symposium highlighted the importance of defining the concept of in-depth education, how to gain skills in thinking and analysis, and expanding the adoption of electronic programs in blended learning, in line with the sustainable development goals (the fourth goal is quality education, and the eleventh goal is sustainable cities and local communities).

The symposium reached an expansion in the study of applications of artificial neural networks in various primary and graduate academic studies, and an expansion in the adoption of electronic programs in in-person and distance education by benefiting from academic and professional experiences in reputable international universities, and an emphasis on the fact that formal education provides the increasing ability of young people to acquire skills. Thinking, analysis, solving complex problems and teamwork, emphasizing that academic programs include training programs that contribute to applying knowledge to complex practical life conditions and solving new problems, emphasizing the inclusion of formal education programs encouraging self-education at all career stages, and encouraging continuing education to reduce The knowledge gap between academic knowledge and realistic professional requirements in the field of work.
