Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Women’s Affairs Committee at the Institute held a seminar entitled (The Role of Women in the Field of Communications and Information Technology) in the Institute Hall. The seminar was managed and lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Kholoud Hadi Abboud, a lecturer in the Department of Financial Studies at the Institute. A number of lecturers and graduate students at the Institute participated in the seminar.
The symposium aimed to highlight the concept and objectives of information and communications technology and the unlimited opportunities it provides for women in many fields, which enhances their personal and professional independence and strengthens their role in society. Despite the challenges they face with rapid progress, women have an increasing role in shaping the future of technology, whether at the level of innovation or in leadership positions. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability objectives in achieving goal (5) in gender equality and empowering all women and girls.
The symposium reached a set of recommendations, the most important of which is to increase the holding and organization of workshops and training courses to enhance women’s technical skills in various fields of communications and information technology and to discuss social obstacles and challenges by exchanging experiences and best practices with the relevant authorities to empower women and ensure equal wages and professional opportunities for them in the field of communications and information technology.
