Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Continuing Education Unit at the Institute, within the program for developing scientific research skills for postgraduate students (ASDPS), held a workshop entitled (Legal Legislation and its Role in Combating Drugs) in the Institute Hall. The workshop was attended by the Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Ismail Muhammad, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting Studies, and Assistant Lecturer Enas Jumaa Radhi, Head of the Legal Division at the Institute. Postgraduate students at the Institute participated in the workshop.

The workshop aimed to shed light on Iraqi legislation related to drugs, and how to apply it effectively to combat this scourge that threatens society. The workshop also addressed the role of the security and judicial agencies in strengthening the rule of law and implementing appropriate penalties to limit the spread of this phenomenon.

The workshop concluded that it was emphasized the importance of intensifying cooperation between all concerned parties and developing legislation and laws to keep pace with the current challenges in combating drugs. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability goals to achieve Goal (11) in making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, flexible and sustainable.
