Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Institute’s Educational Guidance Committee held a workshop entitled “Legal Legislation and Its Role in Combating Drugs” in the Institute’s auditorium. The workshop was presented by the Dean of the Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, and Assistant Lecturer Enas Jumaa Radhi, Head of the Legal Division at the Institute. Faculty members and graduate students from the Institute participated in the workshop.
The workshop addressed the divine status of humanity and what should be followed to achieve peace and security and avoid such taboos as human trafficking. It also addressed the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law No. 28 of 2012 and relevant international agreements, such as the Palermo Protocol against Trafficking in Persons.
The workshop concluded the importance of the role of religious institutions in promoting awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and its impact on society, cooperation between religious and governmental bodies to activate the partnership between religious institutions, the government and civil society in combating human trafficking. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability goals in achieving Goal (16) on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and building effective, responsible and inclusive institutions at all levels.
