The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled(Auditing Trusts According to International Auditing Standards, its Role in Detecting Fraud and its Impact on The Auditor’s Responsibility -Applied Research) for the student Osama Abdul Amir Yassin to obtain chartered accountant certificate, which is the highest professional certificate in the field of specialization, and its holder enjoys all the rights and privileges of a doctorate degree.
The study aimed to review the theoretical framework of the trust account, international auditing standards, INTOSAI standards and local evidence that clarify the auditor’s responsibility when auditing the trust account, in addition to the laws and legislations related to this account and to propose and implement audit procedures for the account itself (recording the amount, settling it and disbursing it) to detect fraud.
The study concluded that the approved INTOSAI standards were not taken into consideration when planning and implementing audit procedures for the accounts payable, especially the trust account, to ensure the validity and accuracy of the account.
