Within the framework of enhancing scientific and administrative cooperation between the Post-graduate institutes and centers at the University of Baghdad, a meeting was held by the committee formed based on the decision of the University Council in its fourth session held on October 20, 2025, regarding the mechanism of cooperation between the University of Baghdad and the Scientific Research Authority at the Deanship of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies. The meeting was chaired by the Head of the Committee, Professor Dr. Karim Hassan Alwan, Dean of the Urban Planning Center, and attended by the following committee members:
chartered accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil, Dean of the Post-grauate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies; Professor Dr. Raed Falih Hassan, Dean of the College of Science; Professor Dr. Kadhim Abdul Wahid Adham, Dean of the Laser Institute for Postgraduate Studies; Professor Dr. Mohammed Shihab Ahmed, Dean of Al-Kindi College; Professor Dr. Wadoud Taher Mohammed, Dean of Al-Khwarizmi College of Engineering; and Professor Dr. Salwa Jaber Al-Awadi, Dean of the Institute of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology for Postgraduate Studies.
The committee discussed, in its second meeting, the items and proposals recorded in the meeting minutes. The joint initiative between the University of Baghdad and the Scientific Research Authority includes developing a comprehensive vision and action plan, studying the establishment of a graduate studies institute affiliated with the University of Baghdad within one of the Scientific Research Authority’s buildings, and opening avenues for scientific and academic cooperation between the two parties.
This collaboration is a significant practical step towards building strong bridges of partnership and integration among the university’s constituent bodies and reaffirms the University of Baghdad’s mission to unify academic efforts, develop scientific research, and enhance its leading position.
