The Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, a certified public accountant, welcomed the Institutional Accreditation Standards Committee of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This visit was part of the Ministry’s efforts to monitor the implementation of institutional accreditation standards and assess compliance with them.

The visit was also part of the Ministry of Higher Education’s efforts to enhance the quality of academic and administrative performance in Iraqi universities and to verify the alignment of policies and procedures adopted at the University of Baghdad with national standards related to governance and management, human and material resources, academic programs, scientific research, student services, and community service.

 The meeting with the Dean of the Institute included discussions on several important aspects, including matters related to scientific research and publication in international databases such as Scopus, and how to select reputable and indexed journals. The meeting also addressed the scientific activities organized by the Institute concerning scientific publishing and the professional development training courses offered to faculty and staff. Various inquiries were answered, and emphasis was placed on aspects that would enhance the quality of institutional performance, particularly regarding organizational, administrative, and scientific matters. The discussion also covered the extent to which the policies and procedures adopted by the Institute align with the requirements and standards of institutional accreditation, contributing to raising the academic level and achieving comprehensive quality.

This visit is part of a series of field visits conducted by the Institutional Accreditation Committee to higher education institutions in Iraq, aimed at supporting a culture of quality and ensuring adherence to the approved standards in Iraqi universities.

This activity contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4, which calls for quality education, and Goal 17, which focuses on partnerships for achieving the goals.
