The Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajil Al-Maamouri, a chartered accountant, welcomed a delegation from the Human Rights Division at the University Presidency. This field visit is part of the ongoing communication and follow-up with human rights units within university institutions, aiming to strengthen their role in establishing human rights concepts and disseminating their culture within the academic environment. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Human Rights Unit at the Institute, Assistant Lecturer Uday Ubaid Zaidan.
The visit included discussions on several important topics related to the work of the Human Rights Unit. The most prominent activities and events implemented by the unit were reviewed, and the outlines of a future work plan aimed at developing performance and enhancing the unit’s presence in various scientific, awareness-raising, and humanitarian aspects within the Institute were discussed.
The meeting also addressed the most significant obstacles and challenges facing the unit’s work, and ways to address and overcome them in order to support its mission and achieve its objectives optimally. The visit also included discussions of several ideas and proposals related to human rights education, its implementation mechanisms, and the practical application of its principles. This included exploring practical training for students and educational lectures and activities that contribute to building a comprehensive academic and humanistic awareness.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation from the Human Rights Division at the University Presidency expressed their gratitude to the Dean of the Institute and the Head of the Human Rights Unit, commending the warm welcome and constructive cooperation. They emphasized the importance of continued coordination and collaboration between the two sides, which will positively impact the promotion of a human rights culture within the university community.
