The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled(The role of concurrent engineering and lean production techniques in cost reduction- Applied research ) for the student Marwa Bassam Abbas to obtain  Cost and Managerial Accounting certificate, which is the highest professional certificate in the field of specialization, and its holder enjoys all the rights and privileges of a doctorate degree.

This study aimed to understand how carpets are currently manufactured in a mechanized carpet factory and how this industry can be developed to keep pace with competing factories. The research objective was to identify the concept and importance of concurrent engineering and lean production technologies in the industrial environment.

The study concluded that several activities cannot be eliminated with the existing machinery in the factory, such as preparing the pile yarns, inspection, and tufting. Furthermore, the study found that pattern design costs are high due to the factory’s use of carpet-making machines introduced in the 1970s and 1980s. These machines represent outdated production systems that cause technical problems due to their inability to adapt to different weave structures, yarn types, or weights.
