In the presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic, Dr. Abdul Latif Rashid, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, Professor Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, President of the University of Baghdad, and a number of ministers, deputies, representatives, and state officials.

The University of Baghdad held the third international climate conference under the slogan (Iraq and Climate Change Implications for Security and Development), which was organized by the University’s College of Political Sciences. The Dean of the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies  , the Chartered Accountant, represented Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Mamouri in attendance, Assistant Professor Dr. Wafaa Hussein Salman, Assistant Dean.

The conference aimed to achieve maximum benefit by discussing its goals and axes, which included several axes, including climate change, impacts and responses, sustainable development and responding to the repercussions of climate change on security, and the challenges of climate change and risk management.

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, announced the launch of the climate research competition for professors and graduate students in Iraqi universities, with the aim of enabling them to make a qualitative contribution to providing scientific solutions through research published or accepted for publication in the first and second quarter journals of the Scopus and Clarivate digests for the years  Extending from 2020 to 2023.
