Under the patronage of the President of the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Munir Hamid Al-Saadi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Higher Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Mamouri, on the occasion of the International Anti-Corruption Day and the launch of the Annual Integrity Week.

The  Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad held its scientific symposium entitled (The Role of Iraqi Legislation in Promoting Integrity and Combating Corruption) on Sunday, 12/17/2023, in the Institute’s hall. Assistant Professor Dr. Hamza Faeq Waheeb, a teaching assistant in the Department of Financial Studies, lectured at the symposium and moderated the symposium. Assistant Lecturer Enas Juma Radi, Legal Department Officer.

The symposium dealt with defining the concept of integrity and corruption and reviewing their texts included in Iraqi legislation, starting from the 1925 Constitution until the 2005 Constitution, and the relevant laws included in the State Employees Discipline Law.

Posters on combating corruption were installed in the corridors of the institute.

The symposium reached the importance of following up on the submission of financial disclosure statements, focusing on spreading the culture of integrity, highlighting by the concerned authorities the opening of courses for employees of state departments on integrity and illicit gain, and directing students to write on topics related to combating corruption and illicit gain.
