At the kind invitation of the Director General of the Iraqi Ports Company in Basra Governorate, Dr. Eng. Farhan Al-Fartousi, the company received a delegation from the University of Baghdad – the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies headed by the Chartered Accountant, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, Dean of the Institute, to provide the required professional consultations and expertise in the fields of finance, auditing, internal control and digital transformation.
The Director General of the Iraqi Ports stressed the need to exchange expertise with reputable Iraqi universities and benefit from their scientific expertise in developing the financial and accounting work in the company.
The meeting included discussing the items included in the agenda, in preparation for starting to provide the required consultations and training courses, as this meeting comes within the framework of enhancing cooperation between the two parties, and the company’s keenness to benefit from the academic and professional expertise of the Institute in the fields of financial and accounting affairs, which contributes to developing the skills of employees and enhancing the financial performance of the company.
The delegation conducted a field visit to the financial, auditing and internal control departments of the company, during which they were briefed on the workflow mechanism. At the end of the meeting, the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies expressed the Institute’s readiness for scientific and professional cooperation, in line with international standards, to achieve maximum benefit from the available competencies in the General Company for Iraqi Ports.
