The Department of Accounting Studies at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled(Using Intelligent Transportation Systems in Light of Cost Management Techniques to Achieve Competitiveness-Applied Research ) for the student Zahraa Sabah Kataa to obtain Cost and Managerial Accounting certificate, which is the highest professional certificate in the field of specialization, and its holder enjoys all the rights and privileges of a doctorate degree.
The study aimed to demonstrate the characteristics of implementing intelligent transportation systems (ITSs) using cost management techniques, after studying and analyzing them. It also explored their role in reducing land transportation costs and achieving customer satisfaction in light of the competitive environment within this field. To achieve the desired research objectives, the study was conducted at the General Company for Private Transport Management, one of the leading Iraqi companies in the field of transportation.
The study concluded that the company’s management must adopt strategic cost management techniques, such as target costing, value engineering, and continuous improvement, to rehabilitate and develop garages and yards into modern, smart garages in accordance with international standards in key geographical locations. This will help resolve some of the traffic congestion for all types of routes and mobile taxis.
