The Department of Financial Studies the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies at the University of Baghdad discussed the research titled (The role of supervisory control of the Central Bank of Iraq in limiting money laundering operations through prepaid cards/ Applied research) for the student Aseel Issam Rasool to obtain a higher diploma equivalent to a master’s degree in banks and grants its holder All rights and privileges of a master’s degree.
The study aimed to demonstrate the relative importance of prepaid cards and their role in money laundering operations in Iraq, and to highlight the supervisory role of the Central Bank of Iraq to reduce the phenomenon, to ensure the achievement of decent work and economic growth. The study concluded that the research relied on data published on the website of the Border Ports Authority on the number of cards seized for smuggling at Iraqi border ports during the year 2023 and their growth rate and compared it with the first quarter of 2024.
