Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Women’s Affairs Committee at the Institute held a workshop entitled (Promoting the Authentic Values of Iraqi Society and Combating Negative Phenomena) in the Institute Hall, The workshop was managed and lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Kholoud Hadi Abboud, a lecturer in the Department of Financial Studies at the Institute. A number of lecturers and graduate students at the Institute participated in the workshop.
The workshop highlighted the importance of authentic Iraqi values in building a cohesive society. They also discussed effective ways to combat negative behaviors that affect the social fabric. The workshop included interactive lectures and discussion panels on the role of educational and media institutions in establishing ethical principles, in addition to reviewing successful experiences in addressing negative phenomena through awareness programs and youth initiatives.
The workshop concluded with the workshop organizers confirming the necessity of activating community partnership between individuals and institutions to enhance the culture of respect and tolerance and reject violence and extremism, calling for the adoption of policies that support cultural identity and positive values in Iraqi society. The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations that would support national efforts in this field, while emphasizing the importance of continuing to hold such events to enhance community awareness and consolidate authentic values. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability goals in achieving Goal (11) in making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, flexible and sustainable.
