Institute Media

Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajeel Al-Maamouri, the Institute’s Educational Guidance Committee held a workshop entitled “Violent Intellectual Extremism Leading to Terrorism” in the Institute’s auditorium. The workshop was moderated and lectured by Assistant Professor Dr. Kholoud Hadi Abboud, a lecturer in the Institute’s Department of Financial Studies. A number of faculty members and graduate students from the Institute participated in the workshop.

The workshop addressed the dangers of intellectual extremism and its negative impact on community security and economic and social development. It also discussed the role of educational, religious, and media institutions in promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance.

The workshop aimed to strengthen intellectual and cultural awareness programs in schools and universities, activate the role of the media in countering hate speech and incitement, support youth initiatives that focus on tolerance and building a unified national identity, and link counterterrorism strategies to the principles of sustainable development by consolidating peace and justice and building strong institutions.

These activities are classified as environmental and sustainability goals in achieving Goal (16) to ensure the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all, and build effective and accountable institutions at all levels. Reducing violent crime, sex trafficking, forced labor, and child abuse are clear global goals.
