Ms. Nabaa Jassim Muhammad, Head of the Government Media and Communication Unit at the Post-graduate Institute for Accounting and Financial Studies, participated in the official meeting of the workshop held at the University of Baghdad, College of Engineering, in the Mahdi Hantoush Hall. The workshop, titled “Cybersecurity Data Protection,” featured lectures from several agency officers, representatives of media units at the university’s colleges and centers, and a number of those interested in digital security.

The workshop aimed to introduce the concept of cybersecurity, highlight the fundamental differences between it and information security, and highlight the importance of protecting personal data and sensitive information in light of the expanding digital transformation and modern technologies.

The workshop also addressed the basic elements of information security, namely confidentiality and integrity, as well as the themes of authorization, identity verification, and digital responsibility. It emphasized the need to promote a culture of information security in academic institutions and government departments.

At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion was opened for attendees to answer questions related to ways to protect and secure personal and public accounts, and mechanisms to confront growing cyber threats.

This activity comes within the framework of the University of Baghdad’s efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 16, which calls for promoting peace and justice and building strong and secure institutions.
