Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Muhammad Thajil Al-Maamouri, the Institute’s Educational Guidance Committee held a workshop entitled “Addressing Social Problems and Discussing Appropriate Solutions / Drugs Case” in the Institute’s auditorium. The workshop was moderated by Assistant Lecturer Enas Jumaa Radhi, Head of the Legal Division at the Institute. Professor Dr. Muhammad Olum Muhammad, a lecturer in the Accounting Studies Department, also attended. A number of faculty members and graduate students from the Institute participated in the workshop.
The workshop highlighted the need to treat addicts in specialized treatment centers instead of imprisoning them. It also emphasized strengthening religious beliefs among individuals to deter them from falling into the trap of addiction. It also highlighted the need to raise awareness among adolescents, highlighting the importance of promoting sports and hobbies, listening to their opinions, and ensuring they are not deprived of freedom of expression. The workshop aimed to spend sufficient time with family members and enhance legal awareness of the dangers of addiction and drug trafficking, monitor and follow up on children’s behavior, and the necessity of increasing the percentage of rewards granted to people who report drug traffickers. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability goals to achieve Goal (3) in ensuring that everyone has a healthy life and well-being at all ages.
