Under the supervision of the Dean of the Post-graduate Institute of Accounting and Financial Studies, Chartered Accountant Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Thajeel Al-Maamouri, the Institute’s Continuing Education Unit is holding a workshop entitled “Sustainability and Social Responsibility” in the Institute’s auditorium. The workshop was lectured by Professor Dr. Khawla Hussein Hamdan, a lecturer in the Institute’s Accounting Studies Department, and was attended by a number of faculty members and graduate students from the Institute.
The workshop highlights the concepts of sustainable development and the importance of integrating the principles of social responsibility into the plans of public and private institutions to achieve a balance between environmental, economic, and social dimensions. During the workshop, the lecturers emphasized the importance of activating the role of universities and academic institutions in spreading the culture of sustainability and encouraging community initiatives.
At the conclusion of the workshop, recommendations were presented calling for the integration of sustainable development principles into institutional policies and for efforts to expand the scope of social responsibility to include various segments of society. These activities are classified within the environmental and sustainability objectives to achieve Goal (9) of building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and supporting innovation.
